A quick hitch lets you swap buckets and attachments in a minute or two instead of knocking pins out with a hammer. Rippa fits a hydraulic quick hitch as standard on most R-series excavators; mechanical hitches are the budget option and the hydraulic version lets you change tools without leaving the seat.
How to choose
- Mechanical: cheaper, lighter, you get off the machine to lock it
- Hydraulic: change from the seat, needs the auxiliary circuit, worth it if you swap tools several times a day
- Hitches are model-specific because pin sizes and spacing differ between the R15, R18, R22 and R32
Tip
Check the hitch is fully locked every time; a bucket dropping off a half-locked hitch is the most common quick-hitch accident.
